Hello All, I have the LG WM2432HW front loading washer and the dreaded LE error. The unit was bought in September of 2004. I have gotten the LE error three times in the past. All three times I have used the unplug for X time period and all was good after that. This time that is not working for me. After I plug the washer back in I do a "Drain and Spin" to get the water out. I then leave it for a while and try a load (one bed sheet). I get two different results based on how much time I leave the unit unplugged for. If I leave it for a few hours the drum will try and clock wise spin. It moves the drum about a half inch and then it rocks back. It will then spin the drum counter clock for two full rotations. Then it will try the clock wise same as in the bigining and then back to the counter clock wise which works. On the next clock wise I get the "LE error". If I only wait 20 or 30 min's I get no counter clock wise rotations and after the fifth attempt to move the drum I get the "LE error" I was able to find at a cost the service manual for the washer. When I do a "QC Test Mode" the led display according the the service manual should be 18:9C but my unit shows a 18:7C. All the led segments are working. I am thinking this is just a version thing. 2002-12-28 I have shelves of service manual that I have collected of the years and this has to be the worst one I have ever seen. There is just enough information to get you in but you will find yourself in over your head very quickly if you are not in the above average percentile when it comes to mechanically and electrically adept. Thank goodness Im there. But now I need help. Everyone on the internet is talking about the "Ball Sensor" and the "Hall Sensor". I can find the "Ball Sensor" in the manual and its part number as well it looks to be an easy fix. As for the "Hall Sensor" The manual talks about it in the trouble shooting but then you never ear or see it in the rest of the rest of the manuel. The "Ball Sensor" two parts A490 Bracket Assembly 4811ER3001A A495 Sensor Assembly 6501FA2462C Can anyone help me track down a "Hall Sensor" part number. Thank you

from what I can find, they either use the ball sensor or the hall sensor (mounted on the stator) your model uses the ball sensor. A Hall Effect sensor determines the speed and direction of the motor. It also can read that the load is off balance when the drum speed fluctuates. Thanks for the info. The Ball sensor is an arm next to the rotor. Do you think that could cause my issues. Or am I looking at the stator. It looks to be a very easy fix. As the service manual makes reference to the hall sensor and a ball sensor. Attached is a pic of the page referencing the hall sensor. Attachment: Picture 3.png (Downloaded 82 times)

A LE code is a motor fault code. The stator has a hall sensor in it. The hall sensor watches the movement of the motor and sends that info to the main pcb ( computer ). The stator comes with the hall sensor when you by it. The hall sensor is also available by it's self. If the unit is less that 7 years old the stator and rotor are in parts warranty only. Labor is one year ( USA ) Very, very rarely the main pcb can give a false code. There is no way to check the pcb. It is in warranty for 2 years. The ball sensor has nothing to do with the code you are getting. You cannot get LG parts from a parts house. Look on LG's website ( Lgusa.com ) to locate a servicer near you to obtain the part or service. We always change the stator, rotor and m.pcb at the same time in if all are in parts warr. Change only the stator and / or rotor ( we change both at the same time ) if the pcb is out of warr. 6501KW2002A Hall Effect Sensor Assembly $18 http://www.searspartsdirect.com sells LG parts http://www.mcmelectronics.com sells LG parts I was confused. Parts manuals don't show a hall sensor on some models. Used for motor speed monitoring. On WM2688, and some other models, the controller can monitor the hall sensor more accurately, and thus doesn't use the ball sensor for out of ballance. Wow I guess the warranty is better in the US. Up in Canada we only get all parts 2 years In-Home. Then its 3 years on the Motor and Controller and 5 years on the Drum. Thanks for the parts numbers.

You are getting the hall and ball sensors confused. To my 6 years of LG ASC knowledge All models have a hall sensor in the stator. Earlier models had a ball sensor mounted to the cabinet. The drum hits the ball sensor as it spins. If the ball sensor gets hit to hard or far it lets the pcb know the load is out of balance. The motor then stops and reverses acouple of times and tries to spin again until the load is in balance.

Thanks guys for the info. I also have this model washer, and today the drum stopped turning. After swapping the hall sensor, it is back up and running. Wouldn't think a bad monitor sensor would cause it to not spin, but hey I'm not complaining, since the cheapest part fixed the issue. Thankfully I live in Michigan, and can return to repairclinic.com to return the stator and PCB I purchased earlier today.
