You’ll get a big bang out of this!!! So we took a call ,lint was leaking from the duet,1 year old so we head over and take a look at what we can find. Anyways the unit was not tight against the wall and had no wall around it is was wide open in the basement, real nice going. Something caught my eye about the gas supply on the back of the dryer, 1st off it was kinked pretty good, and it was not going in too the castle nut straight it was running down hill, so I grab the gas line and the damn thing came out of the castle nut ! I was like COOL, so I call the lady down, and show her what I found, should have seen her eyes on that homeowner they were big as hub caps. She calls the hubby financial planner at the office. Cuz I explained to her this should be flared and how it work and said there is no way it was. It was determined that he gassed it his self She said he said he went and bought a flaring tool to do it, I was wondering why there was a small flare if you want to call it that ,and a lot of scratch marks in the line it self, me and my nephew that works with me came to the conclusion that this guy USED A SWAGGING TOOL ! To try to flare, nice touch. So we redone the whole thing for them and told her to tell her hubby not to do our job no more and we promise we wont do his. Some humor to lighten it up a bit. They went 1 year like this, not sure why it did not leak but it didn’t .they are real lucky hope she bought a lotto ticket that day good chance they may win

i know what you mean, I am all for people trying to repair things on their own, but somewhere down the line you have to factor in the risk. Obviously working on gas systems isn't one of those repairs that a nonprofessional should try to do themselves. I went to a resturant one day (nice upscale) because their gas dryer wasn't heating. When I arrived i learned that the dryer not working was due to the dryer not getting any gas because it was leaking out in the resturant through a supply line without a shut off I immediately instructed the manager of the estabishment to call the gas company and he should also for the safety of his employees and customers evacuate the resturant. Believe it or not he was mad at me because I couldn't take care of his problem and I still had to charge him a service charge. Anyways his last words to me was "I'll just fix the damn thing myself" I said 10-4 and went on my way. Two days later the resturant burned down, fortunately no one was injured.
