Hello, I received the clutch and am putting the new one back in now. I have the gearcase out and have the new clutch on the tranny. I replaced the brake cam and put the new clip on it to hold it on. All ready to put the gearcase back in. Then the brake assembly shifted down about an inch. I can't seem to push it back up. Is this normal? Will it go back up when I screw the tranny back in? Please advise. Thanks, Steve Attachment: P1080830.JPG (Downloaded 243 times)

turn the brake cam to compress the spring and push the assembly back in...when you release the cam it should stay in place.

Thanks appl.tech! I got it back up. I have the transmission back on. How can I tell if the clutch is lined up with the brake cam correctly? The clutch turns freely one direction. The other direction is harder to turn but I can still turn it. I thought the clutch would click into the brake cam? Thanks, Steve

If the trans is bolted firmly in place you lined it up right. Lots of room there.

There is about 300° of rotation where it is in place. If you are in the other 60° the trans cannot be pushed up into place. If the trans is up you are fine. The clutch really does not lock into the brake, it just sort of floats.

steve_d wrote: How do I tell if the clutch is aligned properly with the brake cam? as long as the tranny went all the way flush with the mounting rods and you didn't have to force it then you are good like AccApp said....should not be a gap between the mounting rods and the tranny housing.

Thank you so much! I laid it down, got the tranny mounted, put the cabinet back on (I even managed to make that hard), and hooked everything back up. Now....the beautiful sound of clothes washing transcinds the house. The wife is singing my praises. Everyone that has contributed to this website deserves a beer. Mighty Samuari-I am now one with the appliance.
