I need help with a Kenmore Electric Dryer 70 Series Model # 110+66702692, it doesn't start when you set the time and then push the start button.

Gorden,  more than likley you have a bad thermal fuse.  It's located behind the back panel to the left of the vent.  It's white with 2 wires going to it.   You can temp.  jump it to see if this is the problem, but leave it that way...You can get the part at this site if that's the culprit...Ron

I work on the whirlpool and kenmore dryers alot. When the thermal fuse goes bad  the dryer will spin, but would not heat up.The problem sounds like the start switch,or a door switch. Also you can check for 220volts to the dryer.

On the Electric Whirlpool dryers the thermo-fuse on the vent housing cuts power to the drive motor, the dryer would be dead.  The thermo-fuse cuts out the heat circut <only> on the <gas> dryers, so the motor can run and exhaust any possible fumes if something happens to the gas valve.   Sounds like you have not worked on as many of these as I have????

Why, Kdog, I would imagine the whole thing would run too fast, would make too much heat and just fly right out of there and hover above the house like a big balloon???  ;)

until the heat grew so immense, that it just exploded to ken-dom come, and all that would remain once the smoke cleared,is the open thermal fuse that had been overlooked by the knuckledraggers!!                                     (was that out loud?)

LOL    OK , back to the business at hand, Gordon24, might we inquire if you have repaired this floating, exploding dryer yet???  Have you found the problem with this dead dryer????  Those of us with inquisitive minds would like to know what you found. ;)

Alright everybody, I picked up a thermal fuse at Sears Hardware and put it in.  Now it works.

Thanks Ron.

Be sure to check the air flow from the dryer as a blocked vent system in the home is ususlly what causes this fuse to blow and it will go out again if this is not corrected.
