Hey guys, we bought a Whirlpool dishwasher (DU1145XTPBA) from Lowes and had it installed a few days before Thanksgiving, but we haven't used it yet because we  believe it was not installed properly.  Does a dishwasher have to be plumb? I put a 24in. level against the door and I have to pull the level 1/4" away from the bottom half of  the door to get a plumb reading on the level. Will I damage the washer if I use it like this? Will it effect the cleaning ability? I called Whirlpool, but they were not much help...the first rep asked me "what do you mean plumb?" and the second rep told me "it's okay...it's just cosmetics...line it up with your cabinet", but she didn't sound very convincing or confident. Is their anything else I should check for before we run the machine? We would really appreciate your help. Thanks.:)

It sounds like just a leveling issue...remove the screws that are holding the toe (kick) panel on and you will be able to adjust the legs.  Also check where it is screwd into the underneath side of the cabinet on each side. May have to be re-positioned.  Good  Luck....check back

Poobah, thank you for replying. The floor definitely has a pitch to it and I definitely could adjust it or add shims if needed, but with so many things going on at the moment, I was wondering if it would be okay to leave it alone. I'm mainly concerned about damaging the machine and the cleaning ability of the machine if it's not exactly plumb. Thanks.:)

if you pull the level away at the bottom to find trueness this tells me the machine slants down/forwards

this might cause the machine to splash water out the bottom of the tub, i'd like to hear it was slanted back if anything other than vertical

watch it and dont leave it unattended for the first few loads

new machines dont use much water, any slant might cause the sump to have low water volume which would could cause cleaning issues

hard to say how impropper instalation issues affect performance cause us techs would correct  a problem like that right away and not leave the machine running installed improperly

Okay guys, I'm going to work on it this weekend. I was checking out the installation instructions and I was reading:geek: about the wheel position and front legs, but I'm a little confused:huh:. I have an opening and the lowest point of the opening is 34 5/8" and according to the instructions, I should set the wheels at position 3 and the number of turns on the front leg should be 10. My question is how do I know where to start counting? Is it with the foot of the leg against the bottom of the metal plate that the threads go through? I got a feeling that this is a dumb question and I'm really going to regret asking.:beating:  Thanks.

The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked ;)

with the foot of the leg against the bottom of the frame turn it counter clockwise 10 full revolutions.......BTW it's not that critical
