Howdy,

I currently have a 10 yr old top mount Amana fridge that intermittently warms in both the freezer and fridge sections.  The freezers gets warm enough to thaw and the beer gets, well, warm.  The odd thing last night when I noticed and closed the door after emptying the damn thing kicked on and was fine.  The freezer section cooled to about 10f degrees and the fridge to 46f degrees.  Do the most admirably sunsi's of these forum have any suggestions or is a service call in my future?

possibly a t'stat failure- if it warms up on you,tap the thermostat knob gently, see if that makes the compressor cut in.

Also see if your condenser is clogged or the condenser fan motor is not running, since this would cause your compressor to overheat and cut out on the overload, then when it cools down, will kick back on and run fine till it over heats again.
