Okay, ice maker quit making ice because it will not fill up with water and seeing I'm on tight funds due to going to college I thought I'd save the repair bill and try to figure it out~ not so smart afterall I first bought and changed the 2 thingie water valve in the back- one goes to water in door- it worked  , and the other to the ice maker- doesn't work.Okay, so thought fridge is about 7 yrs old, so buy a new ice maker- go it and put it in~ model # WR30X0327. It works awesome, but no water will go in. I poured water in and it makes ice and dumps, I checked freezer temperature, it's cold, I checked tube going from new 2 thingie water valve- it's clear, I unplugged the fridge and pulled those electrical connections apart and put them back together. What should I try next, other than call the repair guy? Thanks, NoToolManHere

Hey, If your ice dispensing solenoid is good,you should be getting water to your ice maker,that is unless,you have a bad connection to the solenoid,lack of voltage, a clog or restriction of some type in your line.One other thing, it could be the switch that you move from water to ice,your selector switch. Is the solenoid where I plugged in the water valve that hooks to the tubing for the water dispenser and one for the ice maker? Thanks~

Check the inlet where the water comes into the icemaker in the back, sometimes the inlet could freeze up and block the water coming in, this is the piece going through the rear wall at the top to supply the water to the icemaker when it calls for it during the end of the cycle of the icemaker for about 6 seconds, on some models with the water and ice in the door you could switch the harness from the fresh water side to the icemaker side and try to get drinking water and it should fill the icemaker, sort of like using a cheater cord on the valve to test it........

Thanks, I have checked all the tubes going into the fridge, up the back, into the ice maker, cleaned them, and all. With the new water valve, I switched the plug and water came pouring out of the front door dispenser, I switch it back and no water into ice maker. I also checked the new water valve and used a pipe cleaner to make sure no gunk and when I touched the sensor up inside on the side for the ice maker, it started pouring water. I poured water into the new ice maker and if freezes, dumps, something is just not kicking in to fill the ice maker back up with water? If I trace the 2 plug in pieces that go into the water valve backwards, there is a white piece that looks like 2 plastic coated tubes (attached to the side of fridge), should I take that off and look at that maybe? Thanks again for your help.

The plugs I mentioned are the electrial connectors, by sometimes reversing them when you push for cold water on the dispensor it will energize the icemaker side of the valve filling the icemaker while you are trying to get water and the same for the icemaker if it tries to fill it will come out the door, just a simple way of testing the valve and the lines for the supply, not sure if you have just the standard two coil valve as many new refrigerators have three and four coils on the valve and not as easy as the older ones to test this metnod, if you remove the line on the icemaker side from the valve can you blow air through it , to make sure there is no blockage.

Okay, I will try that again. When I plugged the one from the ice maker into the one for the water dispenser, water poured on it's on from the door dispenser without even pushing the button to dispense water. I'll see what happens when I plug the one from the water dispenser to the icemaker side and see if it will get the icemaker to fill.

1. Unhooked plug to water dispenser- hooked to ice maker- no water. 2. Unhooked ice plug and put to water dispenser and it worked. 3. Took out the ice maker and cut electricity. 4. Did the push paddle 3 times in 15 seconds. 5. Disconnected fridge for 5 minutes. What next?

Not sure, this is a pretty basic model, I would at this point use a cheater cord 110v on to the icemaker valve side, (or ohm meter the coil to make sure its good) if you feel capable, remove the plug on the icemaker water valve coil first and using a cheater cord power the coil with 110v to see if water comes out to the icemaker, if it does you could have a bad icemaker or a break in the wiring going back down to the valve, as the icemaker supplies the the 110v hot side to the coil near the end of its cycle, I do not suggest you using a cheater cord unless you are safe about it, you can also have the refrigerator unplugged when you do this. If its unplugged and quiet you will hear the valve come on when plugged in and know water should flow into the icemaker, if it does not come in when energized you may have gotten a bad fill valve............please be safe, if not sure call a servicer to just get a diagnostic on the problem.....sometimes calling a local parts house might be able to suggest a reliable servicer in your area

My neighbor cam over to see if he could help. Same thing,he checked the cooper tube coming from the faucet to the back of the fridge onto the water valve, he checked the tubes, took the water valve off, switched the plugs, was able to get the ice maker side to squirt water with the tube off by checking inside the valve, poured ice in the new ice maker, it froze quickly and ejected out, it just will not fill up with water once it dumps the ice~water is coming in fine through the door dispenser. We unplugged the fridge to let it sit for 5 minutes and plugged it back in- the ice maker arm moves, paddle moves, but no water. We turned the ice maker off for 10 minutes or so- turned it on and the paddle does it thing, no water comes in? We cannot do the electricity stuff, so guess I will make the call. Oh well, I read and read, researched, ask for help and I guess the DIY thing is not for me!

Crazy ice maker~ now what's it doing? I haven't had time to call the repair guy and I open the freezer to grab something and the green on/off switch light is blinking on and off! What does it mean when the on/off light switch is blinking? I turned the switch off.

If the light is blinking believe you will be replacing the whole ice maker. After turning the switch back on push the paddle in and release it three times I believe and it will go thru self test mode...

Well the repair guy is here and the brand new water valve we purchased is no good! He told me 2 weeks ago he ran across another new valve that was faulty. First time in 38 yrs of repair business that he has ever had a brand new valve out the of package that was faulty and now mine is the second ever!
