Pooba, curious, I have used the #8201799 overload/relay kit for the 20-27 cu. refrigerators also with great results like you mentioned. Do you know of a kit which can be used for the smaller refrierators with smaller compressors ? for Whirlpool that is. Also , I agree with most of you regarding the use of the 3n1 relays for only temporary usage. With regards to applying the run capacitor to the 3N1 and making a tangle of wiring nightmare, why not just use the Upro41 instead. It already has the run cap. terminals and the jumper included with the relay. I've used it with good results. (for temporary usage only again)

yes...kind of....where the 8201799 has 2 overloads as we know, the smaller ones are usually contained all in the small plastic boxes that we have all seen burnt to a crisp and melted over the years. As far as a 2 piece like the 8201799 I don't know of any that come in a kit together, naturally you can order each piece individually but that defeats the purpose of the kit....... part #8201769 used on the 18 cu models without the cap. if my mind serves me right, and Part #2212964 is for the 18 cu with cap SERVICE REMINDER....always use the correct overload/relay combo for the design intended....any part that is installed that is not of the correct temp and variance could cause pre-mature compressor failure ..always use the correct part #'s when available (had to be politicaly correct) That being said if you read my post before with the link, there is a tolerance of + or - 5 degrees on the open , and + or - 9 tolerance on the reset on the temperature

thanks for your reply. I have used the 8201769 w/o capacitor and the 22129641 w/cap before but i guess we cannot call this a universal kit, as you suggest that using the manufacturers oem part is the way to go per your caution memo. I appreciate your help.thanks.

I usually retain the overload clixon and replace the relay. Have never seen one of these fail . But perhaps this is not a good idea.

Your right, most of the time the relay is what goes.......I did have one last week that blistered the Overload....wall outlet went bad, and plug wouldn't stay in good....

I would not change only the relay and leave the 3-15 yr. age old overload in there , although you are right that it does not usually go bad. but it can go bad sooner than later and cause major problems. although rare, I did have one blow the outlet and the breakers which caused my customer and myself some negotiating, though this was an older home with 15 amp.breakers, I did replace the outlet and ..the breakers for them though I did not think that the overload could do that. To protect yourself against liability it might be a good idea to do so.
