I was confused. Parts manuals don't show a hall sensor on some models.

Used for motor speed monitoring.

On WM2688, and some other models, the controller can monitor the hall sensor more accurately, and thus doesn't use the ball sensor for out of ballance. It senses changes in motor speed during each revolution.
