If you removed this and the spring has sprung or the clip was no engaged (door will pull off, many a trip to the local dealer to re-attach for them) you will have to expand the hinge and get the clip to hold it open prior to putting the door back on. There is a lot of tension on those mechanisms so be careful. I put the door on the floor hinges facing up and actually use the heal of my foot to expand it and then reach down and flip the lever to hold it that way. If you use only your hands, use a dishtowel or something but be careful, they eat fingers.....
