I was thinking of the THERMISTER, not THERMOSTAT You didn't mention if it was still frosted-up when running that test appl.tech.29501 is right, it would be CLOSED (SHORTED) in that condition. (although Maytag shouldn't confuse people with the term "shorted") run the defrost cycle (and see if it will defrost) and then try those tests again. no fan speed adjustment.. a bad fan if that's the problem.
