Same exact issue, although by loading additional towels in the machine I discovered it would by-pass the problem. Of course I don't want to wash 8-towels with every load of laundry. I too will try the clutch assembly, I need to open the lid to view the tumblers in action, or non-action during the spin cycle, do the sliding locks move easily without damage? Thanks.
