I was going to suggest trying it with clothes, good thing it failed a second time. It should not allow the paddles, discs, liters, THINGIES to rotate at all in spin. If you follow the directions for replacing the clutch via the Manuel, I believe they tell you to pull the tub out to access it. You can be done by leaving the superstructure in the machine and dropping it down. Getting the one bolt that holds it back in to reinstall takes a try or two but it is not bad at all.
