Trying to help

Open the oven door and look up. You will see a few screws that go through the lip of the oven frame (has oval holes in it I believe) and into the top. After that it lifts straight up from the front and hinges in the back. It will come up an inch or two then start to bind. That is the hot surface indicator light. It mounts to a bracket under the top and sort of locks itself into place. Just keep lifting till it pops free. It is mounted to a bracket under the top attached to the burner box. Almost spring loaded. When you go to put the top back on it will line back up and compress down.
