I bought a house five years ago which came with a sub zero 550, made in 1997.

What a lemon! The evaporator failed, then the freezer thermometer, now the refigeration compressor.

In my area, the going rate for a compressor replacement is $1500. I've decided not to keep nursing the sub zero along and will bite the bullet to toss it in favor of a GE.

I can't understand why the going repair rates are so high; the compressor itself only costs $300+
