 Most evaporator leaks are so small you would never find them with a soap bubble test. Yes, you probably had a piece of ice where the liguid refrigerant enters the evap but it has gone away if refrigerant was added. If the compressor is running , there should be frost all along the evaporator. When the compressor stops, the ice melts.

Which pan was full?
