Hello grasshoppa, So sorry my wisdom for you does not come from of a joyful soul. Often replacing this sort of thing is like going to the dentist in a concentration camp or listening for the sound of one hand clapping. There can be other parts also needed to do this evil deed . How expensive was the range? How old? If it was cheap or midline unit, I would trash it in a heartbeat. If it was a thermador or dacor you may wanna pay some poor soul to replace it. You didn't see Samauri's eleventyfifth comandment? "Thou shalt not holdeth thy power tools above thine cooktop" your actions would make for a good movie script....... not so funny in real life my condolences
