If we keep the foreign matter out, and you cleaned the 4 armed backwash arm ports (the one in the middle of the filter) you should be alright. The backwash arm spray's water out or the vertical slits in the end of the arms and is supposed to clean the filter during operation. Paper, and other things (once had one completely coated with orzo pasta and the consumer tried to tell me it came from the dealer that way with the half empty box still on the counter) can completely clog it to the point that even a clean backwash arm wont wash it down. You are probably fine from here.
