:coolblast:Yessirree Buddy!! This is the kind of stuff I enjoy reading! I appreciate that there are still some genuine thinkers plying their trade. So often at my job (not in appliance repair, but in a company fleet, truck & forklift shop), I overhear a supervisor telling a worker something to the effect, "We will need to check with..(the O.E.M.) to see what they have on that." regarding some problem or malfunction in a vehicle.   I have yet to experience a case where the O.E.M. provided a solution to a rare or complex defect or failure. More often, the problem is tackled and corrected by one or two "senior mechanics" in our shop and distributed to others through the grapevine method.  Willie, YOU THINK, man!  How about a big round of applause for Willie !! (and a thumb on the nose with a razzzzberry for the O.E.M.)
