Oh, and I just wanted to mention that I finally was able to remove the agitator as well. Everything looked clean. I noticed there was a "lint screen", but I could not see a way to remove it. But I guess the agitator has nothing to do with the situation, since it works GREAT. Still trying to remain HAPPY here.
