I did what you asked and the motor does move freely back and forth and no there was not any white particles in the center of the machine under the transmission. If I wanted to lubricate this plate, what would you recommend? Also my neighbor came over and looked at it and he suggested it might be a thrust bearing problem as he knew someone else with a problem similar to what I described my machine in doing and that was what they had to replace.
