I applied 120 VAC directly to the disconnected solenoid and it also buzzes.
I ordered a new soap dispenser and hope that will fix the problem.
voltages should always be measured with devices connected (unless otherwise directed)

but, yes, if it buzzes with 120v AC applied, it sounds like it's bad
