<<<Save your money for parts and let LG fix the problem, which is obviously a design flaw.>>> ********** To LGs credit---they have admitted this even though there has been no formal recall. This only affects certain models of LG refrigerators built during a specific time frame. I've installed quite a few of these kits in refrigerators that were long out of warranty. LG NEVER declined a request for an extension of warranty coverage on this type of repair for *any* customer that needed it. The Main Board controls the lightbulb "on / off" function. The cause of this type of failure (dual light bulbs stayed on & melted lens) is a failed RELAY on the MAIN BOARD. The new MAIN BOARD has a much larger RELAY on it which is far less prone to becoming stuck in the "on" position. For additional redundancy---the new lightbulb assy has a temperature thermostat attached to it. In the unlikely event that the new Main Board Relay were to fail again, this thermostat will prevent overheating of the lightbulb housing assy.
