I found my problem's answer in the following old post but did not want to ask my question there as that thread is 5 years old! http://fixitnow.com/2005/03/black-smudges-left-on-clothes-after.htm So here goes. The dryer is an Amana Model ALG331RAW. Serial S0108143266. Several years old. It has recently been sounding like it is full of gravel and tennis shoes. Now it is making the irregular black marks on laundry. Looking inside it is messy much like the Whirlpool pictured in that old thread. My question is this: Is there a kit to fix this Amana like there was a kit for that Whirlpool? Or do I need to somehow find the parts separately? I am thinking I need just the two rollers and should replace the belt at the same time. What is the idler pulley? Anything else? Is this something an average do it your selfer can do or should I get a service tech? I have already in the past year replaced (myself) the cycling thermostat, the gas valve coils, and the timer. How do I decide when the cost of continued repairs on this one makes buying a new dryer a better choice? Or is that last question an impossible one? ;-) Thanks!
