 ok, i went back and read the entire post. So you replaced the evap. thermistor because it was figured that it was causing the heater to stay on too long in return causing your ice to melt.

That's not exactly right in your situation. If it were allowing the heater to stay on too long then the evaporator wouldn't be clogged with frost as shown in your picture.

remove the defrost heater and OHM it....if it's open it's bad.
