 I checked the drain lines and nothing.  I then removed the drain screens inside the dishwasher and removed a small piece of plastic but it doesn't seem as this would prevent draining.  The dishwasher will actually overflow if left running.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?  What actually controls the draining process?
