Our gas oven (17 year old) now sometimes heats normally and sometimes will only get up to about 250, no matter the heat setting. It seems to be slow to get up to temparature also. I have replaced the thermostat but that has not corrected the problem. Seems like slow/low heat situations are also accompanied by more gas smell at start up. I have had the local gas company check for leaks and they find no problem, so it seems to be safe, just not always functional.
