Budget Appliance Repair
|When I first started in the appliance trade about 24 years ago we had a set of those in the shop, I started as a shop-man and got a lot of experience on changing those old belt drive center post bearings and seal.
It is a separate tool for removing and installing the bearings. I believe they still sale the tools and use the same ones that was used for the the old belt drive for the new direct drive machines, (if I remember correctly, last time I happen to see those tools priced somewhere it was a little over $100 for each tool).
You don't see the bearings going out in the direct drives like you use to see in the belt drives, (I believe because the center post is shorter so less space between upper and lower bearings some how just holds up better).
I can't remember seeing anymore than 1/2 dozen to a dozen at most of the direct drives centerpost bearings going out.
