unplug the ref. go to the mainboard right rear on the back of the ref. locate a 3 prong connector..usually blue. on the board it should be marked defrost,compressor and main (?). run a jumperwire across defrost and main leaving the blue connector on the board. plug the unit in. turn it off on the controls. you then can either check for amp draw of the box or open up the freezer door and watch and listen for the defrost heater. if heater comes on it will tell you that the heater and "defrost terminator" are good. it really isn't a defrost terminator just a safety device. defrost is terminated by the board which gets its info from the evaporator thermistor.
