i just read the part about having the dmm, use it to confirm the thermistor is bad. go to the mother board and locate the j1 connector, it has 9 pins. remove it from the board and check the resistance between pins 4 and 5. if the sensor is good and the fridge has been running and is cold you should see a reading 16k ohms or higher. even if it tests good i would replace it, they tend to test good and still be bad. when i run into one of these if the heater and limiter are good i replace the thermistor and go on my way. ive never had to replace a motherboard for a no defrost scenario.
