Eight years ago I failed miserably and purchased a GE fridge. So far, I have replaced the noisy evap fan motor and one failed defroster element. Now it won't defrost and it sits and mocks me. Again it is demanding some kind of personal sacrifice. All the while my 20 year old Whirlpool is lauging at me as it keeps my beer cold in the basement while asking nothing in return except that I provide a certain number of electrons that move back and forth 60 times per second. Anyway, it is with great honor that I am able to have you, the skilled minds that you are, as my audience. Getting down to it... the model number is GSH22KGMCBB. Why yes, it is black. How did you know? I've been religiously defrosting it manually every week with the wife's hair dryer, and I am afraid to admit, I was a parts changing monkey. With the economy as it is, pay cuts, layoffs, I cannot afford a lovely new "non GE" fridge. If I had the money this is what I would do. I must win my battle against this one and hopefully together we can make it submit to me and punish it by requiring that it perform multiple daily defrost cycles. The wife wants to take it outside and fill it full of lead with the 12 guage, which I admit is also an attractive option, but then I wouldn't be able to effortlessly fill my glass with ice at will. I have the new two element defrost heater, new thermal limit switch and new muthaboard from fleabay. None of that means a damn thing because I did not do proper diagnostic work and determine that parts were faulty before replacing them. I am willing to change my ways. I have a DMM and I know how to use it. Please help me. Thank you.
