 whats up mel! IMHO , himeros' crystal ball had it right earlier on- you need a ADC or ADT (same thing)

i had a unit just like yours exhibit the same symptoms (intermittent defrost issue ,heater/bimetal/adc manual forced defrost ok) and a new control  did the trick for my customer.
