You can get a strange type of oil or like gas smell in a dryer if you recently did any construction in home such as painting or varnishing or if you did something like resealing wooden floors and the odor will take some time to go away. I have ran across this a number of times. It will leave the clothes smelling like gas....Hope this helps....
