 if its any help, the gash is in the side of #3(upper outer tub cover), at the front-- would be the "cutout" section of the diagram, front center. 

Also, the upper edge of the inner tub only shows significant wear on one section, again telling me that there was fluid in only that one section.

Now, what part is the tub seal?
