Sorry dazedandconfused, I can't help you since I've been at this for two months and have still not been able to resolve my water problems.

This is what I have done today. I have put plumbers putty between the foam insert and the plastic housing.  I also went a little overboard and put plumbers putty around the bottom of the new (longer) ferrule and every place Styrofoam meets plastic (see pics).  I am hoping that this will finally resolve my water in food compartment problem.

I did insert a zip-tie into the drain hose at the back of the food compartment to see if there was any blockage. I did not feel any.

If I still get water in the next couple of days, I will assume that it is coming from the frost melting in the air tunnel from the freezer to the food compartment. Since I have checked all seals in the freezer and food compartment and they are all tight, I don't know what else to do.

I might just have to make it a habit of sponging out the water in the food compartment every week.  I will let everyone know if I still get water in the food compartment after this latest fix.

Yes, if I was an appliance repair business, I would have gone out of business a long time ago.
