its 8 years old ??? is this a compressor thing. i vacuum in the back on a regular basisso????

I HAVE AN Amana fridge sn: 9905103333 model# bx21vl. Bascically the compressor seems to come on for a few minutes then kicks right off. the temp is about 60 degrees inside the fridge. i have tried moving the adjustment for the t-stat to the max and still the same thing its 8 years old ??? is this a compressor thing. i vacuum in the back on a regular basisso????
