Anyone here see and/or use the new "Whirl-Tool", it's a tool to install/remove the new metal insert drive couplings. Part# CRT-1  I've never had to remove one of the new metal insert style couplers yet, installed many no problem, use a 1/2" deep well socket aligns perfectly using the rubber coupler as a center guide. For anyone who has removed a broken new style coupler, do they come off as hard as they seem like they will from what it takes to install them?

I've only seen one bad so far, and it was rounded out so i had no trouble taking it off. I would think after some use the barbs on the metal insert will be worn down making it manageable to remove.

I thought that was the purpose of the metal insert, so you didn't have the rounding out the mounting hole problem. With as much force as it takes to install them I find it hard to believe we would be seeing them round out like the old plastic ones did.

I had a guy bring me a machine he supposedly fixed. The coupling and metal insert was seperated. He claimed the coupling was hard to get on there. Those dudes cost more money too. I buy the knock offs from uncle bob. $4 LOL

I used a 6 inch construction pry bar that has a deep V in the end. It sliped right off and didn't damage the bearing cap on the motor. Pry bar $3 at harbor freight

never seen the coupler tool, but have seen 4 or 5 of the new style couplers go bad. some broken and some rounded out. A large flat head works well for removing too.

Thanks, that's the info I was looking for. Same method I use to remove the original non-metal insert style. So it sounds like from all the info there's really no need for the special tool.

Nope, you do have to be a little more careful when removing the news ones, rotate and pry,rotate and pry. You don't havto pry hard either...just constant pressure
