I have a "Garage Queen" GE Monogram Side by Side Refrig model # ziss480nrbss and have been told by a service tech that inverter part # wr55x10504 needs replacement. The problem is the Embraco VEGT 8 H compressor is not starting and the tech said the compressor checked good. Can I test / repair a componet on the inverter that may be at fault? I have read on a forum, which was describing the same type compressor no start problem on a similar GE model, the suggestion of checking / testing the compressor start relay. I'm not sure if my unit has such a relay and I plan to purchase a service manual but in the mean time, would anyone know if this fault can be fixed without having to replace the complete inverter part. I read online over and over where the fix to this compressor no start problem is to remove and replace the inverter. The best price I have found is through searspartsdirect for $371, which includes shipping and tax and they offer a 90 day return / exchange policy. Oh well, just trying to save a buck! Thanks, Paul

You can contact fixyourboard.com, they maybe can repair your inverter. Your unit doesn't have a relay. If the compressor terminal ohm to 10 then its good. The 2 wire plug from the mother board to the inverter should show 4~6 V. The 2 wire power connector going to the inverter (big wires I think red and white) should show 120V at all times. If you wanna continue this thread, start a new topic in the Kitchen Appliance repair forum.
