My dryer has recently stopped heating on all cycles in the perm press/knit category. Those are the cycles that I normally use. The regular cycles, which are just minutes, still work. I have taken the top and front off to clean everything but have not gone beyond that.Have I been using the wrong cycles all these years? Does this sound like something is wrong in the dial?

If you are meaning it stopped heating on low heat but does heat some on high heat see if the inside coil on your heating element canister behind the drum is broken...

I thought I sent a reply to this, but it has not shown up. Can you tell I am new at this? The dryer has a switch to set heat, knits low, and no heat. The dial has various settings for perm press/knits and timed regular. The regular settings are just minutes. If I use the regular settings, I seem to get high or low heat which I set on the switch. If I use the perm press/knits cycles, I get no heat, no matter how the switch is set. Do you still think it could be the coil. I guess I will take it apart and look tomorrow.

Not sure....the timer does have heat contacts that give power to the heat selector switch, however this heat selector switch gives power to the thermostats depending on which temp you select....could be the timer but let us check the element first.  If it is ok, you will need to get your volt meter to see where you are losing power to the heat circuit when you get no heat.
