| My Asko washer suddenly won't agitate or spin. The belt is fine. I removed the pin trap plug thingy and got some coins and an old piece of a socket wrench. My question is: Is the pump trap thingy a solid piece? It seems to be snapped but I can't tell if it's supposed to be this way. If it is snapped, will that be the reason for my trouble? When I say snapped, the collar is not a solid piece of plastic.

| Getting voltage to the motor but the motor just sits there growling? Or, not even getting voltage to the motor?

Well, you better stand up if you're gonna fix your washer.
On second thought, you better sit down: you need a new motor and they cost over $300.
But the good news is that they're easy to install!

| Do you happen to have instructions on how to install miserable motor? And also, if the pin trap is broken, will the washer still run?

Does your motor have brushes? if you can tilt it forward, look at the other end of the motor for 2 small black plastic cases screwed to the end. Turning the power off and getting a torch would also help. If they are there, it is probably these that have worn out.

If you have seen the picture of the motor on repairclinic.com, then you will see 2 black parts on either side of the motor one connected by a blue wire. These are the motor brushes. If the belt is okay then this is the most obvious point ton start. When you get the motor out, remove the brushes. They will be worn to the point that they are not making good contact on the motor, or they will have a pop-out section built into the brush to stop them wearing to the point where they damage the motor.
I could not find motor brushes on the website so I suggest you phone Asko direct and ask if they can sell you with the parts (Asko here in NZ do this)

Thank you so much! That is EXACTLY what is wrong with it! I called Asko and I can get the motor brushes for only 35.00. Sure beats $300.00!

Its a bit of a trap for young players he he he - some Asko washers have internally brushed motors, and you do need to replace the motor, but I always think if you can remove it, you should be able to replace it. Asko are also very good at making their appliances easily serviceable, which alot of manufacturers could learn from.

Someone want to post a picture of those ASKO brushes when they arrive.
These may be the same brushes that are needed on some models of the Electrolux/Frigidaire front loaders that have changable brushes but Electrolux doesn't list just brushes anywhere and you are forced to purchase a complete new motor.

| What I found helpful was to buy as many different types of washer motor brush sets as I could find and see which ones were the same or could be removed from their casing and fitted into another suppliers casing, thus minimizing the amount to carry in the van. We dont have many frontloaders here, so I only need 3 sets (which fit about 10 different motors and brands)

| Well, the brushes came and I installed them, but the machine still doesn't work. It did need the brushes, though. Any thoughts and ideas? I can't afford to have a service come, because I was just diagnosed with cancer last Tuesday and I'm having a bunch of tests done. I have to fix this myself.

Noever mind, guys. I forgot to remove the shipping tab thingys that protect the brushes. I removed them and the washer works PERFECTLY!!!!! Thanks again!!! Now excuseme while I go wash about 20 loads!
