The centre of the agitator needs a 1/2" square drive to remove it. I presume you're going to check the drive block?

Yes, the spin baset has to come out to replace the drive block. If the top of the spin tube is badly damaged you would have to replace the whole break/clutch assy. However when you remove the basket and drive block see if you can straighten and square up the two notches so as to hold a new drive block. If the clutch/break assy has to be replaced you will have to remove the transmission since the clutch assy is above it.

Yes , like Pegi suggested, if the drive block notches are damaged you need to replace the c lutch /brake assembly or the the basket drive. When reinstalling the drive block make sure to really tighten the collar ring tight or it might get loose again . A simple affair.
