Hello, Kenmore Elite 110.22952100 washer wont always spin. It runs and makes noise like it is spinning, but it does not. If I open the lid and hand turn the drum about and inch clockwise and then turn the dial back to spin again, and close the lid it will most often engage and start to spin. My wife is getting aggravated with it and me. Like I said it runs like it's spinning but the basket/drum does not spin. Often just giving the basket a little manual turn will then get it spinning. Thanks

When you raise the lid to spin the tub are you depressing the lid switch manually and the tub begins to spin once you assit it or are you just opening and closing the lid and it begins to work? If you are manually pressing the lid switch while hand spinning the tub follow the direections below. Either your clutch is bad or your drive block. Remove the cap off the top of the agitator to access the bolt underneath. Remove the bolt and grab the agitator at the bottom and pull it out. You can inspect the drive block from this point. Maybe someone can link you to a picture of what it should look like.

Thank you for the reply. No, I am not pressing the lid switch. Sometime sit takes a few try's manually turning the tub before it seems to work. I am not sure but to me it seems like its a gear or clutch that is slipping or not engaging every time it goes into spin mode, because by just turning the tub slightly it seems to then spin (most of the time) when I close the lid, turn it back to spin and pull the knob. Thanks

I can't view your model at the moment. If you open and close the lid "without" spinning the tub will it then spin?

NO, it never will just start by opening and closing the lid. The only way I can get it to start spinning is my manually rotating the tub the running the spin cycle again. The thing is it is running and making noise like it is actually spinning, but if you lift the lid you can see that it has not spun. The clothes are still on the bottom of the tub and soaked. They have not been spun at all. Now sometimes on smaller loads (but not always) the washer will run through its entire cycle including the spin. Thanks

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. There really seems to be no pattern. Thanks
