My Whirlpool gas dryer is not heating. With the bottom panel off I can see the orange flame will kick on for a few seconds than kick right back off. Should I also see a glow from the ignitor besides this orange glow??

Things work much better when you post the model number of your appliance, from what you are describing, it sounds as if you may have issues with the coils on the gasvalve

Sorry, model # LG5536XPWO I can see the ignitor glows it just never ignites the flame. So I'm assuming it's not getting gas? How do I check the coils on the gas valve??

After the ignitor glows for awhile, it should shut off with an audible click (which is the sound of the coil opening the valve) if the ignitor just cycles on and off, suspect gasline is shut off, or one or more coils have failed RepairClinic part number for gas coils is 3479 - which includes all 3 coils on the valve Last edited on Thu Nov 4th, 2010 07:00 pm by kdog ____________________ Can Ye spare some 'cutter me brutha ? http://web.me.com/zenzoidman/kdog/ |

They are kinda difficult to check, but if you are certain that the gas is not somehow turned off, you have textbook failed coil symptoms and need to replace them

Ok. Well the valve for the gas is on, don't see how it would be off. Gas furnace is working fine too. Just replace all coils then??
