Hrmm, it looks really nice. I just read a few reviews that indicate it doesn't balance well and is extremely noisy. http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/maytag-centennial-3-2-cu-ft-supersize-capacity-washer-model-mvwc300vw-reviews Are these legit complaints. I want to make sure I get something that will last me 15-20 years like my old Kenmore did. That thing was a great machine.

post your Kenmore model number and I'll post the Parts diagrams for both My current Kenmore 70 series model number is 11092575110. I've never owned a Maytag so I assume it's a Kenmore equivalent.

Ok, I read all the reviews on the Home Depot website about the $249 Maytag (MVWC300VW) and it seems a common complaint is the water switching on/off when warm is selected. Apparently, instead of mixing it cuts the hot on for a while, then the cold and does this back and forth. Some people are complaining about the noise this generates. Would it be better to spend a little more money for the Roper(RTW4440VQ) at Lowes $329.00?

Roper washers are also made by Whirlpool the new Maytag does has an automatic water temperature sensor that may turn the hot & cold water ON/OFF while filling. You may heed a pair of these mounted right to the water inlet valve inputs of your new washer to stop the "water hammer" that may occur when any house water supply is turned OFF quickly. Home Depot mnay also have them .. click on picture

This can be a problem on "soft" wood flooring---such as a trailer home. Well mine will be on a solid concrete foundation so I guess that's a non-issue.

Any reason I can't find that Maytag washer on Maytag's website? They have a C200 and C400 but not the C300. A search for the exact part number didn't reveal it either. Last but not least. I have pretty much decided on this machine as it seems like it will do what we need. My wife would kinda like a larger capacity. Any recommendations on a larger capacity machine in case I have to cave?

Ok, just got back from Sears, Lowes and Home Depot. She liked the larger tub and the price was reasonable. Are these easy to work on and are they reliable?

Yea, I looked at the repair diagrams for the new HE machine and it looks like the prices for the parts are reasonable. I am torn b/t buying the $250 Maytag direct drive (MVWC300VW) at home depot and the $400 Maytag HE (MVWC400XW). I know the old system as I've changed the coupler, pump, springs, etc and it's worked hard for 16 years. I wish I new a bit more about the new system. It looks pretty simple though. The wife really likes the larger 4.3cu tub capacity and the agitator free. Should I flip a coin here. Argg...

Well I bought the Maytag MVWC300VW for $249 at Home Depot. They just delivered it yesterday and so far it seems like a good machine. I noticed it does not have a visible lid switch like my Kenmore 70 series had. I located the switch toward the back left of the machine under the lid flange when looking at it but can't simply press it to engage the machine. I know at some point I will need to have the lid open to watch it operate when a part fails and was curious how to accomplish this. Again, thanks for all the help.
