I have a Whirlpool LG5726XPWO Gas dryer. When it starts the igniter glows, the dryer lights, it burns for about 45 seconds then shuts off. The cycle repeats every minute but with progressively shorter burn times.

I cleaned the vent and made sure it was clear, same results.
I replaced the gas valve coils, same result.
I checked the continuity on the thermostats and flame sensor and all passed

Just to be sure the vent was not restricted, I disconnected the aluminum vent tubing and let it blow into the room, same results. But, while the dryer was disconnected i felt the exhaust port and it is not blowing very hard.

Thanks

have you re-assembled this Dryer after the repairs ?

It won't have the correct air-flow unless the Cabinet is complete.

I have re assembled the cabinet, Although the back panel has been missing since it got lost during a move about 15 years ago. The drying times started taking for ever a few months ago.

I seems like it should be blowing much harder than it is. Is it possible there is something in the vent or blower section? If so how would I check that?

This dryer is over 20 years old. I love the simplicity and ease of repair and reliability of this old piece of junk.

Would a new dryer be significantly more efficient to the point it would worthwhile for me to update?

Not enough to justify the expense of a new one and the repeated repair $$ in replacing the cheesy electronic controls.
