|I've been reading here for some help on this washer and probably have enough knowledge to be dangerous, but the washer still does not work.
It was purchased in 2006, and to say I am unhappy with a very expensive washer that does not work is an understatement. The concept of paying someone hundreds of dollars for repair is also not acceptable; According to what I read these things can be continuous repair expenses. I will buy a new (cheaper) machine first.
It is Maytag MAH5500BWW, sn C5541840JE, and it stops in midcycle, not every wash but about every 3rd, and displays Lr. There are no abnormal noises and the drum spins easily. Leave it sit for a period of time, push start, and it will likely finish the load. I found the diagnostics guide and everything checks out correctly normally. However the diagnostics do not function correctly when the Lr code is displayed - for example the machine will go into diagnostics mode, but the output test or spin tests do not work. The resistance of the motor checks out fine according to the guide.
I had accepted that the motor and controller kit was necessary, and purchased one from the parts supplier. I now realize my machine is too new and already has the updated motor, and the new controller has different connections, although it looks like you can connect by bypassing the AC filter.
Is the problem actually the controller, or is there something else? If it is the controller do I trade the kit in on the right controller, or is this one the one to use?
Thanks in advance
