My very agitated wife tells me washer not spinning. I take a look. Agitator working fine. Pumping water just fine. No spin cycle. Motor hums in spin cycle. Shaft no rotates. Motor bad?

Remove the front of the machine and look on the right hand side of the motor on top. you will see a board on top of the motor and looking in from the side you should see a greed LED light (tiny light) flashing...what is the sequence of the flash? You could also see if the motor humms without the belt but lets not try that yet because the belt can be difficult to re-install for a novice.

I don't see anything that resembles a board w/ any LED's.

yep, you are correct, the web site I was using changed its format and I was fooled. You do not have the electronic motor. Pop the belt off and see if the motor will run in the spin cycle (this one isn't too difficult to get back on).

anythings possible, but I havent seen that symptom with this type controller..usually the the motor is quit when the control fails...keep and eye on it for a while, if problem comes back the control would be the most likely cause.
