Need to remove the agitator in top loading machine. The small white cap and bot were removed but can't move the agitator. Need to remove a chain that is stuck in the spinner.

Are you using only HE detergent in this machine? If not, you're dealing with old detergent sludge cementing the agitator to the spline.
