I have a Sears Kenmore washing machine. It started to over flow as the tub was initially filling. I ordered and installed a water level switch from Sears. The problem continues. We have to set the water level to extra low. Sometimes it will overflow, sometimes not. However, it always fills to a level higher than it should (just shy of overflowing) The last load we had to manually stop the water just before overflowing, it went through the agitation cycle, and drained. We missed the next fill and opened up the lid while it was agitating again to find it had no water in the tub. The vinyl tube connected to the water level switch seems to be in good condition. With the tube disconnected from the switch but still connected to the tub, should I be able to blow freely thru the tube?

When I just ran a load, the same thing happened regarding the agitation without any water. I turned the control knob around to the start of a new cycle to fill the tub, but it just kept agitating without H2O. Now I’m getting agitated!

.. agitation without any water.

1) bad Water Level Switch, or bad / cracked / disconnected (from Tub) / Tubing

2) yes

3) bad Water Level Switch, or clogged Tubing

when re-connecting Tubing to Water Level Switch, the Tub must be empty of water ...

I have disconnected the tube that runs from the water level switch. It is clear (not clogged) and in good condition. When I just connect it to the tub, I cannot blow into it, there's no air flow, if there is suppose to be. What is it connecting to at the side of the tub? Could that unit it connects to be the problem? Could I have gotten a bad water level switch from Sears?

I did make sure the tub was empty when I reconnected the tubing. I also noticed that it doesn't seem to spin as fast as it has in the past.

yes, may connect to an air-something there.. may be clogged by to much detergent

Oh great Samurai,

It works!

Everyone kept saying that I should be able to blow into the tube that goes from the water level switch to the tub. I couldn't, and the tube was clear. I disconnected the tube from the tub, took a hanger, cut it, bent a gradual curve into it, gradual enough to barely be able to work it down the inlet stem at the tub. I twisted it so the curved end faced the tub and then worked it around a bunch. After doing this, I reconnected the tube and amazingly enough I could blow through it. Put everything back and at least for now it works! :shock:
