So, I loaded up my kenmore 11020432990 and went on my merry way doing stuff around the house. I checked on it and found that it had stopped at the end of the wash portion of the cycle. The water didn't drain, the tub didn't spin. There was no smell of anything burned out. I tried moving the dial from rinse to spin, nothing. I tried starting from the beginning of the cycle and water started to go into the wash tub. I moved it along a bit further but no agitation, no draining, no spinning.

I unplugged it, emptied out the clothes and tried to turn the agitator. The agitator didn't budge a bit. I plugged it back in and played with the cycle knob again. Nothing. So, great gurus, what are your thoughts?

Cheers and beers,

Whynotmi

I can't find the wiring diagram for that model,

unless you have one you could scan and upload somewhere   http://www.imageshack.us/

then post the link here

but a bad Lid Switch may prevent all Motor activity on that model.

I'll keep looking for the manual, but it's 10 years old so I'm not sure if I'll find it. Would a faulty lid switch allow it to fill with water but do nothing else?

yes a lid switch that is open would stop agitation and spin. on most models no matter where you set the dial it will not do anything but fill.

tech sheet. don't ask... you boys and ladies in this forum know how i got it. ;)

Thank you both for your replies so far.

Near the upper left hand corner of the diagram the switch in mentioned with a series of numbers under it. I don't suppose those numbers would be a part number would they? If they are, can anyone make them out? My old eyes aren't up to the task.

If it is, that Lid Switch won't prevent Agitate.

Sorry Regis, I don't know if it's the diagram of my machine as I can't find my original manual and I don't see any markings on the posted diagram to show which model it belongs to.

From what you said though, I have a sinking feeling it's not something as easy as the lid switch. The machine does nothing except fill. Since I have the mechanical inclination of a wombat I'm working in a totally clue free zone on this. Any help is appreciated. Once I have some idea what might be wrong I'll start hitting up my handier friends for assistance with the actual surgery. :)

the diagram is for your model.

i would look to see if there is something wrong with the lid switch first. its a visual inspection most of the time.

it should be located on the right side. there will be a small oval that a pin on the lid goes into. feel under it to see if the actuator part (like this man) to see if that switch has any play to it.

or you could also see if it clicks when you put the lid down.

If that's the diagram for his model,
(which I don't think it is)

a bad Lid Switch won't prevent Agitation ..

Thanks for the photo and the assurance that the diagram is of my model. There appears to be no clicking when I push the lid button down. As I don't have the tools at hand to open the lid, I reached underneath to touch the lever and the lever seemed to be a bit floppy. Would someone be able to give me the part number?

Thanks a million folks. A few years ago you helped me save my fridge, I'm hoping to bat 1000 with the washer.

It worked! Only thing, the replacement switch doesn't have the metal shield the original had on the switch toggle. Is that a big deal or should it function alright without?

its just there for people who overload... if you overload, your clothes with go over the white tub ring/tub cover and will catch on the switch. if you don't overload or wash big items that can do that, you wont have that issue. :) so no worries
